The First Five Pages by Noah Lukeman
It looks like a little book, but lots of powerful advice in there.
On Writing by Stephen King
I didn’t expect to love this book as much as I did. I don’t read horror, but this part memoir/part writing advice is raw in its vulnerability, really funny in parts, and a damn good read.
Goal, Motivation and Conflict by Debra Dixon
I was fortunate enough to attend a workshop by Debra where we worked through the scenarios in this book. She was just as energetic at the end of the day as in the morning. This one is a classic, used by countless romance authors. Actually works for any type of novel, not just romance.
Techniques of the selling writer by Dwight V. Swain
You’ll see this one recommended by tons of writers too.
How I Write by Janet Evanovich. My hero!
